The Reds youngsters chalked up a 1-0 semi-final win over Heat FC – ranked #16 in the US – at the Las Vegas Mayor’s Cup & International Showcase.

A nail-biting final encounter with NVSA – ranked #3 in the US – ended in a 3-1 loss for LFC IA Utah's 03 team, but they left with plaudits from organizers for several battling displays.

The 06 Boys, meanwhile, reached the semi-final of their bracket in Las Vegas.

Elsewhere, the Academy’s 03 and 06 Girls won their brackets at the Rage FC tournament and the 07 Boys also took gold, while the 05 Girls were semi-finalists at the Real Salt Lake President’s Cup.

LFC IA Utah 05 Boys (who finished runners-up) and 09 Boys also impressed at the Ice Breaker Tournament in St. George.

Ahmed Bakrim, Salt Lake Regional Director of Coaching, said: “To see our boys fight it out against the top players in the United States was fantastic and a tribute to the development of our LFC IA Utah youth soccer curriculum here in Utah.

“The semi-final against Heat FC was incredibly tense and our boys defended like champions to keep out their skilled opponents. The players will never forget the moment the final whistle was blown.

“I couldn’t have been more proud to see them play NVSA in the final and they gave an excellent account of themselves. None of our lads gave up, even during the final few minutes of the final game.”

This year has already seen Liverpool F.C. International Academy Utah teams win a string of competitions across the United States, less than twelve months after the organization was formed.

The first LFC IA Utah tournament - held at the start of February - was contested by over 60 teams, while training camps have been attended by the likes of James Milner and LFC legend Robbie Fowler.

Wayne Scholes, CEO of Liverpool F.C. International Academy Utah, said: “Our 03 and 06 Girls also showed tremendous spirit to win at the Rage FC Tournament against some very tough opponents. In fact, it has been a great weekend all round for our Academy.

“I am so impressed by the way every single one of our players is following the principles of The Liverpool Way. Every time they take part in a tournament, they are are representing Liverpool Football Club with ambition, commitment, dignity and unity.”
