The Liverpool F.C. International Academy Utah tournament will feature “some of the best young soccer talent Utah has to offer” – that’s the message from Academy General manager Daren Woolstenhume.

Over 65 boys and girls teams will gather at the Sullivan Soccer Complex in St George for the inaugural LFC IA U Tournament on February 2nd and 3rd – less than a year since the Academy was formed.

The tournament marks the latest step in an impressive start to 2018 for the organization, after its under-14, under-16, under17 and under-18 boys swept to glory at the recent RSL President’s Cup.

And Liverpool F.C. International Academy Utah General Manager Daren Woolstenhume is looking forward to watching youth soccer in Utah step into the spotlight once again next month.

He said: “We have been planning and marketing our first tournament for a long time, so it is incredibly exciting to see it all start to come together. It is part of a great first year for everyone here at the Academy.

“The interest from clubs has been fantastic and we’ve got some great young players making the trip to St. George. I’m confident that we’ll see some of the best young soccer talent Utah has to offer on the pitches.

“Everything is shaping up for it to be one of the most tightly-contested Utah youth soccer tournaments around, especially after the great efforts of our boys teams in winning the RSL President’s Cup.

“But there will also be great facilities on offer for families who might be travelling with the teams. Southern Utah has some incredible scenery, as well as entertainment and restaurants within a few miles of the tournament venue.”

The tournament will primarily take place across a number of fields at the Sullivan Soccer Complex, which is set amongst 60 acres of landscaped parkland in the Washington City area of St George.

Games will also be played at the nearby Little Valley soccer fields.

Wayne Scholes, CEO of Liverpool F.C. International Academy Utah, said: “I was thrilled to see our teams do so well at the RSL President’s Cup, so this is another chance to celebrate youth soccer development right here in Utah.

“It has been a breathtaking first year for Liverpool F.C. International Academy Utah, as we look to instill the values of The Liverpool Way into young soccer players, both on and off the pitch.

“The tournament is an opportunity to show off the soccer talents these youngsters posses, while placing them in some highly competitive games. It is a going to be a festival of youth soccer in Utah.”

The tournament will feature boys and girls teams from under-9 to under-19 level, with games taking place from 10am to 9.30pm on February 2nd and 3rd.
