Liverpool F.C. International Academy Utah’s under-17 boys rattled in 20 goals on their way to victory in the NHB Cup at Huntington Beach in California.
The Reds youngsters sealed victory in the final with a 4-0 win over Utah Rangers, following an unbeaten run to top spot in the group stages.
That run saw the Liverpool side concede just one goal, in a tense 3-1 win over Fram 01 Lima during last weekend’s semi-final.
Stuart Dewey, coach of Liverpool F.C. International Academy Utah under-17s, was delighted with the efforts of his entire squad.
He said: “The team performance and chemistry was brilliant over the weekend and we hope to build on this momentum for the league season and tournaments to come.
“It was great to see the team buying into the system and fighting hard for each other. The goals are great, but the defence was incredible in conceding just one goal.
“I am very proud of the squad and they deserved to lift the trophy after a hard-fought final against Utah Celtic.”
Top scorers included Oscar Quintero with seven goals, Sawyer Heaton with five and a brace each for Benton Kemp, Ben Simister, Ben Cooper, and Xavi Flores.
Goalkeeper Bryce Hubbard, meanwhile - alongside his defence - had five shutouts with only one goal scored against.
Wayne Scholes, CEO of Liverpool F.C. International Academy Utah, said: “I am so proud of all the players who took part in the NHB Cup. They reflected the great values of The Liverpool Way.
“It has been a fantastic summer for all our teams, boys and girls, throughout the age groups. They all deserve to hold their heads high when the new season starts.
“A huge amount of work has gone into coaching and behind the scenes here at Liverpool F.C. International Academy Utah. I believe we are well prepared to develop young players in Utah to the best of their ability.”
